How to unlock your T-mobile G1 phone

October 24th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Gadgets

Finally there is an unlocking method for which you need not sweat. And guess for whom? None other than our next door new neighbor T-Mobile G1.

Note: You must have one already activated T-Mobile sim card to do this.

Once you can arrage the above, follow these steps:

  1. Go through setup process to link any Gmail account
  2. Go to Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings > Enable Wi-Fi
  3. Look for a Wi-Fi network around you
  4. Remove the original sim card and replace with your new unactivated sim card that came with your phone
  5. Enjoy!

Do you have any caveats about updates and upgrades?

sorry, I could’nt understand what you asked.

But if I understood you right…unlocking cell phones for T-mobile has a lot less headache than AT&Ts. so if you make any changes to phones (e.g. unlocking)…it will not matter much to t-mobile (especially if it is after 90days)

It is a quite interesting post but quite difficult to understand for me -
