Japanese scientists at the Riken Center for Developmental Biology in Kobe (Japan) have been successful in cloning mice, from the cells of frozen mice dead for 16 years ! Researchers are now optimistic that they will finally be able to resurrect long time extinct species like the mammoth.

Teruhiko Wakayama who led the research, stated – “This is the first time a mammal has been cloned from a sample stored at conditions reasonably close to what might be expected in permafrost”.
