SETI to contact Extra Terrestrial life by 2025

November 13th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Science

Senior SETI astronomer Seth Shostak recently said, “We’ll find E.T. within two dozen years,” at a conference in San Francisco. Incase you are not aware SETI is an organization looking for intelligent life in outer space and have been very active for the past few decades, unfortunately without much success.

Shostak estimates that the computing technology and space research instruments would have enough power in 2025 to search as far out as 500 light years ! This he thinks is, “enough based on scientist Frank Drake’s estimate of there being 10,000 civilizations in our galaxy alone capable of creating radio transmitters–to find evidence of life intelligent enough to broadcast its existence.” The main research tool to identify the existence of E.T. would be the Allen Telescope Array, which is made from dozens of small antennas and is estimated to become enough powerful to achieve its goals successfully by 2025.
