World’s first Plug-In Electric car on sale
The world’s first mass produced plugin hybrid electric car will go on sale in December in China. “BYD, a company that first made its reputation as the world’s largest maker of cell phone batteries, has announced it will release the F3DM hybrid sedan on December 15.” So when will US have a plug-in hybrid car? BYD says, they will launch the same car in USA and Europe sometime in 2010 or 2011. It is almost the same time when GM is scheduled to launch their own Chevy Volt.
The car can travel atleast 60 miles on a single full-charge which is 20 miles higher than what GM promises with Chevy Volt. The Price? RMB 150,000 or US$22,000 (approx.)

I am curious why the low range of 60 miles. Engineers have long been touting much longer ranges, i.e. 300 miles on a single charge, without a big spike in cost. My hunch is that this due to pressure from industry. If this car wants to make it on the road as a certified vehicle it has to pass muster. If it were too good, it wouldn’t stand a chance because certifying bodies would find all kinds of reasons to keep it from the market. At 60 miles, it’s no threat to the future of the gas guzzlers.

It seems like development has been much slower than the promises. Rumors have been swirling around in the automobile industry for years, but finally, in the last few years more hybrid electric cars with Taylor Cable Spark Plug Wire Markers have started to be introduced into the marketplace.

IMHO, flex fuel or hybrids are the only way to go anymore.
