November 23rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Hardware

MSI, who can be called one of the pioneers of the Netbook saga (atleast by now), is to launch their second series of  Wind netbook. It will hit the U.S. stores in the holiday season. Lets take a look at the specs:

  • CPU: 1.6GHZ Intel Atom
  • Graphics:  Intel GMA950
  • Memory: 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • Display: 10 inches (1,024 x 600) LCD
  • Hard drive: 160 GB
  • Multimedia: 4-in-1 (SD/MMC/MS/XD) card reader
  • Connections: USB 2.0 (three ports), Mic-in, headphone
  • Battery:  6-Cell (about five hours)
  • Wireless: 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V2.0EDR
  • Modem: Intel WiMAX Technology / 3.5G (HSDPA) Solution
  • Camera: 1.3-megapixel webcam
  • Dimensions: 10.23 x 7.08 x 0.38 ~ 1.29 inches
  • Weight: 3 pounds (with battery)

So, whats changed? Technically nothing significant.

But here’s the list of the changes from the original model:

  1. 160GB HDD instead of the original 80GB
  2. An optional 3.5G modem
  3. Design changes – New Wind will have strong-straight edges instead of having rounded corners like the previous Wind.

Price? $500 (estimated), definitely much lesser than $600.
