Microsoft to rebrand Live as Kumo.com?

November 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Microsoft

When you are as big as Microsoft you really cannot do things privately anymore. Looks like the Redmond giant has recently acquired a new domain name, kumo.com. Even more interesting they have taken over all the variants of kumo like com, .net, .jp, .fr, .ru ! But why??

As per PC World, rumors are there that Microsoft is all set for rebranding their flagship search engine Live.com. It is not unknown that Microsoft is struggling really hard in the search market domain with their just under 9% market share. Looks like a no match for the King G (Google). So, honestly no one is sure at this point. Whether kumo.com will be a new name for their Azure services, rebranded Live.com or Office for Web….no one is sure. But whatever it is, the world’s largest software company is definitely upto something big.

Here’s what shows up when you do a whois on kumo.com
