World’s highest resolution tiled display

November 25th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Gadgets

You may have heard about screen resolutions like 1024 x 768 pixels or may be 1280 x 800 pixels or something similar. But have you ever heard of 307 million pixels (yes, 307 million) ? The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) of University of Texas at Austin has come with the world’s highest resolution tiled display, dubbed ‘Stallion’. This humongous system “boasts 75 Dell 30-inch LCDs, each of which has a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,600.” Not to mention, it is also super-packed with “36GB of graphics memory, 108GB of system memory and 100 processing cores.” Ridiculously cool !
