New glass made public park in New York City
International architecture and design firm Perkins Eastman has come up with a new triangular-shaped public park in Times Square, New York City. Ofcourse you may think, “so what is the big deal ?”. Well, if you have been to Time Square you would certainly know. By far the busiest part of America, Times Square definitely is one of the most spectacular places on earth. Crowd, lights, colors, stores, cars…everything at one place.
The structure called TKTS Booth, is “the most complex and sophisticated glass structure ever created-a show-stopping urban sculpture of iconic proportions and forward-thinking ingenuity.” This new booth is basically a discount outlet for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. The structure is designed as a complete glass-made staircase with red LED lights housed around it. The spacious stairs allows people to sit and spend their time in one of the most illuminated part on earth.
This design was inspired by the winner of an international ideas competition, Australian-based architectural firm Choi Ropiha.
