Ericsson works with Intel to fight laptop theft

December 11th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gadgets

There’s nothing more foolish that keeping your laptop on the coffee house table, while you hang around elsewhere. Not that anyone blames you, but you really wish you were in a zero-crime world. But now there may be hope to be a little more careless.

Ericsson has just announced that it’s HSPA-capable Mobile Broadband Modules will be compatible with Intel’s Anti-Theft Technology. So ??? So…it basically means that Ericsson’s modules will support remote-SMS to lock a stolen or lost notebook. That’s not all, this technology even has an integrated GPS to locate your stolen laptop and kick the crook’s a**  who tried stealing it! If you have already lost your laptop there’s not much you can do, but for the next time, as they say, “Precaution is the best way of prevention”.

Availability ? As early as second half of 2009 !
