Finally after years of search by the Chinese Public Security Bureau, 11 leaders of the largest software counterfeiting syndicate on this planet, were busted. Microsoft, the world’s largest software company was the most hit in this piracy racket. The pirates were responsible for the distribution of atleast $2 billion worth of counterfeit software mostly using Microsoft’s brand name. The distribution penetrated atleast 36 countries world-wide and across all the continents. Microsoft was a major player in this anti-piracy war and received support from more than 100 Microsoft resellers. It has been reported that the Futian People’s Court in Shenzhen, China, sentenced these ringleaders, which ranged from 1.5 to 6.5 years.
