Designboom had organized a design contest with MACEF, the  theme of which was “Beyond Silver”. 89 countries had participated and there were a variety of  admirable entries.

This particular design by Sono Mocci won the 2nd prize in the contest. The designer calls this a “melted silver candle stand” which looks so apt. We all have seen how a candle melts but thinking about the stand melting in a similar fashion is very unique a concept. It has been also explained that the light from the flame when gets reflected by the metal it appears that the melted silver is flowing. The illusion is really overwhelming.

Wondering about the flame? The silver body actually encapsulates an oil tank that helps in revitalizing the flame. On the whole it feels that a silver candle has wholly melted with the flame going off  at any moment.

The picture also shows how food can be served on this Liquid Silver, enhancing its utility too.
