Wouldn’t you include a little bit of change in your daily routine if you were to know that your ordinary action might be an extraordinary benefit to the Earth? So what’s the tiny task that HP wants us people to do and is campaigning as “Power to Change“? The answer is “switching off the computer when not in use“.

It is not unknown that people do have a tendency to keep computers active or running even when they don’t use it. Apparently it doesn’t seem keeping computers switched on [just for the sake of it] is a wasteful method but it has been seen that if 100,000 users follow the ” switch off ” rule, then about 2,680 kilowatt-hours of energy would be saved. As a helping hand in achieving this, HP has introduced a widget compatible with all operating systems that would remind the user to shutdown whenever he’s complete with all his digital work. Not only this approach saves energy but includes reduction in carbon emissions to more than 3500 pounds/day which is again equivalent to taking 105 cars off the road/day.

So you have been bestowed with theĀ  “Power to Change” and you can if you want to [save energy and even money for yourself ].

The Power to Change campaign is part of HP’s efforts to save one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2011“…………. so be a part of it.
