Microsoft surprises all – Office 2010 to go online for free

We are not sure whether this move will actually shatter Google dreams, but it is for sure that the world’s largest software maker has finally woke up from its long hibernation. Microsoft who is reputed to charge money for almost anything, is now going to do something unthinkable. The next version of Microsoft Office (2010 ) will have a free online version! Basically it will “come as both a piece of software you can buy for your computer, and as a service you can access in your browser“.
The best part, the online application will support all the three major browsers i.e. IE, Firefox and Safari.
It will be interesting to see whether this move is actually the most successful one made by Microsoft or the dumbest ever, considering that MS Office adds in a cool $20 billion to the company’s revenue.
