Booting an OS has been researched for quite a while. With speed becoming the no. 1 criteria in a fast paced computing world, it is now almost a mandatory factor to have low boot times. Even Microsoft claims Windows 7 will boot in just 30 seconds, which made millions of Windows fan happy. Now a few Linux fans at the Embedded Linux vendor MontaVista, have figured a way to boot Linux in just 1 sec…basically from black screen to the desktop!
The idea is to boot using minimal drivers and therefore it does not exactly result in a full Windows-like environment. So although it is still in a not-so-matured state, we believe it definitely is an excellent start.
