Recycling water and reducing water wastage has always been a point of importance. There have several recent developments in recycling water, and one such exacmple is the “Phyto-Purification Bathroom” from designer Jun Yasumoto. The idea is to use a simple and natural filtering principle which is called phyto-purification for recycling the waste water.

Other than natural plants like rushes, reeds and lemnas which filter large particles, heavy metals and aquatic micro-organisms respectively (in that order), the system also uses a carbon filter to stop the remaining micro-particles. Although quite a few people might find the setup a little creepy (considering that there may be bugs hiding in the plants), overall the system definitely seems to be useful.
