Toshiba reveals the world’s first 64GB SDXC Cards

Japanese electronics giant Toshiba has just revealed the world’s first 64GB SDXC Cards  which would be available sometime around November 2009. The device has the exFAT file system and provides a read speed of 60MB/sec and a write speed of 35MB/sec. These SDXC Cards are also the world’s first to be SD Memory Card Standard Version 3.00 complaint.

Regarding the 60/35 MB/sec read/write speed here’s was Toshiba has to say, The combination of large storage capacities and increased data transfer rates will meet the needs of a wide range of consumer electronics applications such as digital still cameras and digital camcorders that require high bandwidth data communication. For example, digital SLR cameras will be able to shoot longer continuous bursts in the highest quality RAW format. Similarly, with these cards, it will be possible to download a 2.4GB video in only 70 seconds“.

The SDXC cards also features a highly secure CPRM copy protection technology.
