Once upon a time Apple was a not-so-large tech company. That was not far back, it was as early as 2005. And then came iPhone, which not only marked a new era in smartphone technology, it also completely changed Apple’s topography. That’s not the only change that took place. Now Apple is a serious threat to the world’s most valuable technology company, Microsoft. Apple’s revenue doubled in the last 4 years to $36.5 billion and the market value jumped to a whopping $180 billion. Microsoft’s is $58.5 billion and $250 billion respectively. Analysts strongly believe that if iMac and iPhone sales continue in same numbers, Apple may be able to dethrone Microsoft.

But then again, the Redmond giant is not sitting idle either. It has the “destined-to-success” Windows 7 for sale as well as Windows Mobile 7 in the pipeline.
