Ok…this gets exciting. Now we finally have the Google Chrome OS available. But there is a catch. You cannot install the OS all by itself, you will need a virtualization software to run this software. A good start will be to arrange VMWare or VirtualBox first. So get yourself the right version depending on whether you are running OS X or Windows. By the way VirtualBox is available for free although VMWare is still somewhat better.

Download Google Chrome OS here.

Download VirtualBox here.

Once you have the virtualization software ready and incase it is VMWare, make sure to create a new virtual machine to use the .VDI file (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).

For Windows, use the option “existing virtual disk”. For Mac i.e. incase of VMWare Fusion, use the option “use operating system disk” and “use OS disc image file.”

Also make sure your virtual machine is set to bridged networking (and not NAT).

That should be it. To login just use your Google/GMail login.
