Contact lens display is a reality, will run on wireless power

In the world of miniaturization where mobile phones have already reduced the gap between a computer and a phone, this opto-eletronic contact lens just takes technology one step higher. The contact lens you see above actually has a super-tiny computer that can fit right in your eye. The final goal of the device is to “form images in front of the eye, such as words, charts, and photographs“. Currently an undergoing research at the University of Washington in Seattle, the latest prototype is the work of Dr. Babak Parviz.
The lens picks up wireless power using a loop antenna built inside the lens itself. Future use of the contact lens is not just limited to displaying data, “they’ll also be able to monitor the eye’s surface chemistry, which would allow wearable computers to keep track on blood sugar levels in diabetics and other information.“
