iPhone surpasses the number of Windows Mobile users in the US

Windows Mobile has been around for quite some time now. Originally targetted for PDAs, the mobile operating system eventually made its way to smartphones. Things where not bad until ofcourse Apple should up with the iPhone in June 2007. Only in just less than 2.5 years, iPhone has overtaken the number of Windows Mobile users in October 2009. The number of iPhone users in the US stands at an impressive 8.97 million while that of WinMo at 7.13 million. Palm has a decent 2.84 million.
But hope is probably not lost for Microsoft. The company plans to release Windows Mobile 7 that is supposed to be feature rich and will likely be able to compete with the iPhone OS, webOS and Android.
