Proposed Garden in Singapore near Marina Bay

December 31st, 2009 | 2 Comments | Posted in Environment

We are presently looking at some fantastic and captivating images of the gardens planned to be built near Marina Bay, Singapore. The proposed gardens covering an area of about 101 hectares will home a variety of flora from different regions and that also with an interesting display format. Bay South, a part of the wonderful venture has been designed to be the largest garden with an  area of 54 hectares. It will include diverse biomes with varied species from the Tropical Montane (Cloud Forest) and the Mediterranean regions.

The massive tree like structures of this project will feature vertical gardens showcasing climbers, epiphytes and ferns while doubling as huge lighting systems at night. These are also meant to collect rainwater and solar energy. The plan also involves water gardens and interactive environments to understand the “symbiotic relationship between plants, animals and water in an aquatic ecosystem”. Designed by Grant Associates and Gustafson Porter this garden may be completed by 2011.

I am very impressed by this futuristic garden near Marina Bay in Singapore, especially with the concept of collecting rain water (which I tried unsuccessfully, in a very ametuerish way), and using solar energy –  the technology hasn’t been tapped very much, despite the concept being about for sometime now, I wonder Why?

I will hope to be able to visit these wonderful places in the near future!!

    Please keep me posted!
