T-Mobile announces Android based internet tablet

January 7th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Hardware, Life

Mobile phone service giant T-Mobile has recently announced a new Android based tablet computer in the UK. The device can be called of “slate” type since it has no integrated keyboard. Having a rather large 15 inch screen, T-Mobile will be marketing the device as a “family-centric” internet tablet. It will have a T-Mobile SIM card and will also support video calling. T-Mobile says that the company spoke to atleast 1000 families in a period of 18 months before finally building the product, based on all the opinions, interests and feedback. The browser included will be full-featured and will let you have the same experience as a desktop.

T-Mobile promises to keep the price very “competitive”. One thing to be noted is that the computer may not have access to the Android market place, because of the device’s odd screen size.

It is interesting to see how so many companies are coming up with the “slate” concept, is it because of Apple’s rumored iSlate? Well I guess we have to wait for a few more weeks to know better.
