It’s official now. James Cameron’s Avatar becomes the world’s most successful movie of all time. The movie finally dethroned the previous record holder Titanic (also directed by Cameron), as it grossed a mind boggling $1.842 billion, and that too in ridiculously less time. It is amazing to see how a movie can perform so well and top the charts in just six weeks. This proves at least one thing…3D sells!

Almost 65% of all the tickets sold outside the U.S. are for the 3D version. Also almost 70% of the movie’s revenue comes from outside the U.S. James Cameron is again the “king of the world” and becomes the richest movie director one more time. It is obvious that his 12 year thoughtful planning for Avatar has finally paid off…really well.
