HOTO FUDO near Mount Fuji, enjoy your food while being one with nature

January 28th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Design

It looks like an igloo or is it an igloo? Whatever we have known about igloos, is only through pictures and diagrams in our text books. The smooth and curvaceous structure above although looks like an igloo is actually a restaurant built recently in Yamanashi, Japan that has great views of none other than the Mount Fuji. This noodle restaurant is very unusual to look at and the design evidently seems to be inspired by natural elements like clouds and mountain. For its interior too there’s something special as well.

The restaurant doesn’t have any air conditioning system. It has been built such to let people enjoy meals in natural air that is let in. Barring the windy or the cold season when an acrylic sliding door closes the openings, the restaurant will always be open to outside air. In case of rainfall the interior has been arranged so that the water doesn’t reach the tables but the customers can enjoy the sound of raindrops. You can pretty much make an idea that how this structure will blend with the surrounding during snowfall. This Hoto Fudo Restaurant has been constructed by TAKESHI HOSAKA ARCHITECTS.
