Google adds multi-touch pinch-to-zoom functionality to Nexus One

February 2nd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Google, Software

In a rather surprising move, Google added multi-touch functionality to Nexus One by an over-the-air update. Once the system is updated, users can take advantage of the “pinch-to-zoom functionality” on the device’s web browser, photo gallery and Google maps. Although the Nexus One by itself is a powerful device, the lack of multi-touch capability somehow made it sub-par, especially when it was compared with the iPhone.

Along with this functionality, the update also includes a quick fix for 3G connectivity problems that many users have recently reported. As for Google maps, the current version will be updated to version 3.4, which includes “search suggestions from your personal maps.google.com history” and also features a “night mode” for navigation.
