Outdoor Fireplace, a unique design with a quality purpose

You rarely see constructions like these and could mistake it for a fairy tale wonder. This is in fact an outdoor fireplace that also provides an enclosure for people and children to sit around and spend some time together. This structure has been built with small pine wood pieces [naturally impregnated core of pine] put together in circular layers, along with oak separators placed vertically between the pine pieces. The complete structure required 80 such layers of pine wood with each layer comprising of 28 pieces. It rests on a concrete platform with the entrance having a double curved sliding door.
It is very interesting to see how restricted funds and supplies can lead people to think and create such useful forms. Built by Haugen/Zohar Architects, this structure can be found in Trondheim, Norway.
