AT&T removes Google search from Android powered Motorola Backflip, replaces it by Yahoo Search

March 2nd, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Business, Google

We all know that Google makes money by selling ads on its Google search. AT&T doesn’t want its customers to have that, instead the company is putting Yahoo search in its upcoming Android phone, Motorola Backflip. “The home screen widget has been replaced by a Yahoo version, the browser even performs Yahoo searches. Virtually every search you can perform will utilize Yahoo for the results, this is the first Android device with Yahoo as the main search engine.”

Although most might see this as some kind of a disagreement between Google and AT&T, it obviously isn’t. AT&T’s gold mine isn’t Google or Android, it is Apple and the iPhone. So keeping peace with Apple is a more plausible option. Should we expect this in every upcoming Android phone in the AT&T network? Only time will tell.
