Just when iPad starts appearing for pre-order, rumors about the next iPhone OS version 4.0 surfaces. AppleInsider revealed that as per their ‘reliable’ sources the iPhone 4.0 may feature true multi-tasking. From a UI perspective it seems Apple will introduce a multi-tasking manager that will control the multiple apps. But the OS is far from complete, and will need to undergo several rounds of development before it is even ready for testing.
There are several issues that come with multi-tasking, the most important being resource optimization/conservation and battery life. It will be interesting to see how Apple finds a solution to all this.
