Novell’s new technology to port XBox 360 games to iPhone and Android

Today Novell demonstrated a new technology that will allow some of the XBox 360 games to be ported to the iPhone as well as the Android. Of course Microsoft is taking several measures to take the XBox 360 games to its upcoming mobile platform a.k.a. Windows Mobile 7. But XBox 360 games working in two of the most promising mobile operating systems is a whole new story. Called MonoTouch, the technology will allow Microsoft .NET code to be “translated” to the iPhone/Android native code.
“The iPhone app that Novell created is an open source derivative of an Indiana Jones games that Microsoft is showing off running on Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox.” The games will be designed using the XNA framework which is a derivative of the much comprehensive .NET framework. You can expect something concrete at least for the iPhone in the next few weeks. For Android, may be a little later.
