Social networking website Facebook surpassed the search giant Google as the most visited website in the U.S. Although this is not a world-wide data, still we all have to appreciate the fact that Facebook jumped a massive 185% in a year (based on U.S. traffic). For a small or low ranked website this is no big deal, but for a website which is already in the top 5 list, it is a huge colossal leap. On a comparative scale the traffic for Google increased by a meager 9% for the same period. And when you combine Google.com and Facebook.com? You basically cover 14% of all internet traffic in the U.S.
If you still haven’t noticed, both Google and Facebook quite realizes they are at war. “In what could signal an escalating battle between Facebook and Google, the leading social-networking service celebrated its sixth birthday earlier this year with changes including a new message inbox that echoes Gmail’s format.”
