So what did you expect? Apple sells iPads, make billions, and the whole world just sits back and watch? Sorry Steve Jobs, not at least when Google is around. The search giant will soon be launching its own tablet computer and that too much sooner than you think. As per New York Times, the device will be “an e-reader that would function like a computer.” Google is already working with several publishers to make eBooks for this Android based eBook reader/IMT.

The device can quite possibly be the only one in the market that can take on Apple’s iPad. Android already has a massive application market that has been predicted to surpass that of Apple’s App store. Imagine Google Reader, Google Voice, Google Docs, Google books, GMail, Google Maps and a few hundred free apps, all in one device. Wouldn’t that be fun!

So is this a warning for Apple? Or will the new device undergo the same fate as the Nexus One? I guess only time will tell.
