Recycled Cassette Tape Tie

April 14th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Design, Environment

These aren’t ordinary ties. You should  have already spotted the cassette tape beside the ties and so you understand there’s a connection. The ties are actually made of “50% recorded audio cassette tape and 50% colored thread” which makes these a totally unique wear. Another interesting thing is that you can hear sound from the ties if a tape head is run on them (yes, seriously!). Check out the video below to know what it sounds like.

These recycled cassette tape ‘limited edition’ neckties have been designed by Alyce Santoro and Julio Cesar. They come in black, dark brown and light gray colors and are priced at $90 each. If interested then visit here.

Sweet! The ties sound like an alien trying to communicate at first! You’ll hear the arrangement and the city ambiance as you play it along. Too bad you can’t order a custom tie made of Elvis’ cassette tapes – that would have been amazing! Too bad they don’t have a brown one yet.
