AT&T starts Buzz.com, a new online recommendation service

April 21st, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Software

America’s second largest wireless provider AT&T, has now opened doors to its new online recommendation service called Buzz.com. It took the company almost a year and a half to develop the complete web site. The site allows location-specific searches and provides relevant information based on the search. For example if you are looking for a “restaurant” in your area, you can find it on Buzz.com, check how people rated and commented on its service, and even if any of your friends liked it or not. In short it is very close to a combination of Google Places and Google Buzz.

There are several online vendors who already provide similar services. Google, Yahoo!, Foursquare and Loopt to just name a few. At this time there isn’t any significant advantage in using Buzz.com over the others, but AT&T already being a large power house of digital services, might prove us wrong. After all the company has over 85 million customers.
