Restaurant Tusen in Sweden

April 26th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Design, Life

What you see above is not something that we often come across. So I assume if you are very much suited to the wintry chill then you would like to visit the Restaurant Tusen! Located in Sweden, this restaurant which is a part of Swedish ski resort Ramundberget has a fantastic facade built with the local birch trees. Such an exterior guards it against the Nordic winds while it also allows the snow to remain on the surface, thus making it look like as if has risen from the snow beneath.

With an accommodation capacity of 125, the restaurant also has a south facing open area for relaxing in the sun. The restaurant also offers great views of the mountains like Helags and Skars. Built by Murman Arkitekter, to blend with the surrounding landscape, this restaurant Tusen has won the first prize in the ” ‘Holiday’ category at World Architecture Festival in Barcelona 2009“.
