Facebook starts converting videos from Flash to HTML 5

The world’s largest social networking website Facebook.com has started switching its videos from Flash to HTML 5. Videos that are native to the website were all originally based on Flash. Now that the videos are getting converted to a more universal/standard format (HTML 5), they will directly run on the iPad/iPhone without any addition app. Good for Apple? Yes. Bad for Adobe? Hell, yes.

Of course not all videos are being converted right away, and a fair amount of them will continue to run on Flash. The fact that Facebook is the world’s second most visited website (after Google), this move is a big step. And when a website with over 350 million users make a move, most others are likely to follow.
