Bees buzzing at LEED certified Ritz-Carlton, North Carolina

April 29th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Environment, Life

Nowadays we come across a lot of news related to [in short] ‘going green’. Just around Earth Day, Ritz-Carlton  in Charlotte, North Carolina buzzed with such a green move that involved around 120000 honeybees! The LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] certified hotel already had a rooftop garden blooming with herbs and now they added these new residents in an effort to obtain organic or pure honey so that the very same honey could be added to the various dishes they would prepare for their guests.

The expected amount of honey obtained is around 70 pounds which is to add flavor to the yogurt, granola, brews and more. The bees have their own beekeepers and are not at all a concern for the guests.
