Finally solar-assisted air-conditioning comes to the market

June 23rd, 2010 | 5 Comments | Posted in Environment, Hardware

Solar-powered devices are nothing new. Starting from wrist watches to even street lamps, there are plenty of applications currently in production. But for some reason solar-powered air conditioners never quite made its way to the market, until now…well at least to an extent. This is LG’s new eco-friendly solar-hybrid air conditioner. The system uses a 70-watt solar panel which assists in powering the 1000-watt air conditioner. Although not entirely a 100% solution, still we are definitely heading to the right direction.

As per LG Electronics, this new generation of air-conditioning is capable of reducing around 212kg of CO2 emission over a 10-year period. That’s almost 780 pine trees!
