Guggenheim Paper Donut

July 19th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Design

So what comes to your mind when you look at this? You could draw similarities with the cross-sectional view of  a tree trunk or compare it with a propagation pattern of a shock wave! It is up to you what you would like to imagine but again it is also a reflection of the artist’s patience. The artwork has been created from a collection of admission tickets of Guggenheim Museum and plywood.

Each paper ticket has been punched with holes by artist Mia Liu which have been arranged such to illustrate a dynamic pattern in totality. Force, energy, vitality are the words that are synonymous with the creation.

This is called the Guggenheim Paper Donut as Mia Liu states, “I’ve turned my daily routine of eating donuts at the Guggenheim Museum café into the topic of my creative work.
