Pipeline Furniture

August 3rd, 2010 | 2 Comments | Posted in Design

Wondering what these colored pipes are doing inside a hall? Shaped in the form of pipes, this is actually a public seating system called the Pipeline. It consists of four different parts which can be connected to one another to form a network, capable of proceeding in any direction as required. There’s a 4 feet pipe, a cross connector, a t-connector and an elbow which turns upward to serve as a table. Either the parts are joined at the aluminum legs or are firmly held to the wall.

The Pipeline furniture designed by Harry Allen is filled with “polyurethane foam over an MDF and solid wood frame.

Meh- I don’t see how this would work in a home unless you are a snobbish billionare and like to burn money. Sure it looks great… but what about comfort? No back rest? Also, after having many people sit on it over time, will it retain it’s shape? I highly doubt it.
