Bio-Bug, a smart solution to many environmental issues

August 6th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Environment

Believe it or not but there are chances that cars could run on human waste. Wessex Water, a sewage treatment service in Bristol, UK has launched Bio-Bug [above] which is said to be fueled by the byproducts of human waste. The Bio-Bug which is a transformed Volkswagen Beetle is said to be the first car in UK to be powered in such a unique way.

Analysis and tests will be carried on for a while to see how the car fares. At present the efficiency of the car is around 10,000 miles/year which means annually it can be supported by waste produced by 70 homes. If the effort put in by Wessex Water in creating a sustainable car “powered by your waste” proves fruitful, then they would go ahead in building more.GENeco is a part of Wessex which also is nurturing the idea of “recycling food waste at their plant“.
