Oracle sues Google for unapproved use of Java in Android
It seems Google has violated quite a few copyrights/patents by using Java in Android. At least that’s what Sun’s parent company, Oracle, thinks. The company filed a lawsuit against Google on Thursday at the U.S. District Court in San Francisco and is seeking a jury trial. Google included Java technology called Dalvik along with the Android OS. As per Oracle, Dalvik directly competes with Java and infringes several of its patents.
Oracle also claims that this action from Google was “willfully and deliberately” committed. No wonder the database king is badly pissed as Google hired several of Sun’s Java engineers in the recent past. I guess it’s time to get even. Google couldn’t be reached for comments though.
