The Longest Bench in Britain

Check out the longest bench built with thousands of reclaimed hardwood bars that runs along the town of Littlehampton’s beach. The colorful bench in West Sussex, Britain, was opened to the public on 30th July 2010. Conceived by Studio Weave it can accommodate around 300 people. Although the primary purpose of the bench is to let people sit and enjoy the beach, it does make numerous twists and turns along its length to make it look like a piece of art as well.
The colorful bench can be seen looping around lamp posts, curving behind bins while sometimes plunging in the ground for passage between the beach and the Green. The bench has been compared to a charm bracelet because it not only binds far off places but to which new additions could be made whenever required. That is why the odd and dirty shelters which connected the beach with the Green was renovated into new ‘charm’ shelters, where the bench can be seen bending and bouncing off the walls, creating a space to wonder at and enjoy.
