Bauhaus Chessmen
You are presently looking at the Bauhaus Chessmen which has been designed by Josef Hartwig [in 1923]. The components on the board are different from what we are used to seeing, and comprise of some minimal shapes to represent the various entities. Simple shapes like sphere, cube etc. have been used for the pieces based on their function, and the way each of them moves on the border-less board.
