Internet Explorer falls below the 50% mark
Finally, it happened…at least as per the data from StatCounter.com. The market share of Internet Explorer has fallen below the 50% mark. Although it still retains its position as the most used web browser, at 49.87% (and decreasing), the future doesn’t look too good for Microsoft. Mozilla’s Firefox continues to get better at 31.5% while the newest kid on the block, Chrome, accounts for a rather surprising 11.54% of the market, up from 3.69% in September 2009.
However, a lot more is promised in the upcoming IE 9, which is also reported to be much better than its predecessors. So I guess only time will tell how fate turns out to be for the trio.
