Electrolux presents vacuum cleaners made from reclaimed plastic collected from ocean

October 27th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Environment

Vacuum cleaners are machines that are used for sucking away all the tiny dirt and messy particles that thrive in our homes, but how about those which could suck in polluting plastics from oceans? That’s far-fetched but Electrolux is set to bring forward five different vacuum cleaners which will sport looks created from reclaimed plastic from five water bodies. Each machine which is the new Electrolux Ultra One Green model, has been given a casing totally designed from discarded plastic pieces collected from Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Baltic Sea.

Such an approach has been made for bringing people’s attention to the ongoing effects of thrown away plastics in our oceans while again motivating them to go for recycled options. According to Electrolux “The vacuum cleaners embody the plastic paradox: oceans are full of plastic waste, yet on land there is a shortage of recycled plastic for producing sustainable vacuum cleaners. Electrolux makes Green Range vacuum cleaners from 70% recycled plastic, but wants to reach 100%.” Have a look at the video below.
