The picture suggests that Solaris is an umbrella. It is so but in addition to guarding against sun’s rays it is also a system that the designers believe could be a part of a sustainable living.
The flower shaped part of Solaris is actually a collection of six blades that are held together at the center, with each blade having two photovoltaic panels. So at the same time not only it would provide shade but even absorb solar energy for future use.
The design includes a power indicator located midway on the vertical pole with the base having three sockets for charging devices. Solaris has been planned for people who would like to work in open air or may need to charge their gadgets on-the-go. Designers are André Castro, Elizabeth Remelgado, and José Vicente.
