Peace Bridge in Canada

November 30th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Design

This tube-like bright red bridge is the Peace Bridge and is being built in Calgary, Canada. Stretching across the Bow river, it would connect the North shore to the downtown and make it easy for people to move in and out of the city. The pedestrian bridge designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava will be covered by glass to make it accessible at any time of the year.

The six meter wide bridge will have separate paths for biking and walking and will remain illuminated at night. The $24.5 million bridge which is estimated to have thousands of footfalls is scheduled to be completed by mid 2011.
