No, it isn’t a giant panda taking care of a little one. Disguised as the big panda is one of the researchers involved in a special project for the endangered species. The project revolves around the prime notion of monitoring and guiding the little pandas, that are born in captivity, to face the wilderness and hence sustain on their own.

That is why the researchers of the conservation center do not want the pandas to have any human proximity but help them get accustomed to seeing and being with their own. In the past although the pandas were trained with skills to survive in the wild, it resulted in failure with the pandas being killed by other wild pandas.

So whenever there’s a need for examining the little pandas, the researchers from Hetaoping Research and Conservation Center in Sichuan get into the panda costumes and carry out their work. It remains to see whether the little ones are at all influenced by the make belief act of the caretakers.
