This is how Facebook is connected
With over 600 million users around, Facebook needs to be keep in track how everyone is actually connected. This visualization map you see above is the work of Paul Butler, an intern in the company’s infrastructure engineering team.
Surprisingly, most of China seems to be dark. This is mostly because the website is blocked in the country. In some other countries like Russia there are competing websites around, mostly in native language, hence the relatively lesser use of Facebook there.
Facts aside, the image below (click to enlarge) is simply wonderful to look at.
