Both Reddit and Digg are the influential social bookmarking websites. Digg has its own fan base, so does Reddit. However, when it comes to pageviews and rankings, Digg is still ahead of the pack. But the question is, how long would it be like that? Just six months back Reddit’s Alexa rank was > 350 while that of Digg was around 110. Today, Reddit has spiked to 169 while Digg has dropped to 131 (Alexa rankings, as of 5-Jan-2011).

Does this mean whoever used Digg before, has now moved to Reddit? Well, it is quite possible…at least from the Statcounter data below. We are sure a lot of Digg fans will disagree though, but usually stats don’t lie. With the continued rise in popularity of Reddit, it is likely to be replacing Digg as the foremost social bookmarking website on the internet.
